Studio Policies
Practice
Daily practice for at least five days of the week is necessary for steady growth. Length of practice will vary based on the student’s level of advancement. Please take responsibility to schedule and follow through with daily practice until it's an easy habit and joy. Practicing is fun. Although learning is challenging, it's fun to gradually improve. You will have weekly assignments. Please bring a dedicated notebook with you to every lesson that I'll make notes in. Completion of homework and thorough preparation of assignments for each lesson is expected.
The discipline of daily practice leads to progress which fuels motivation to continue to practice and progress. Parents may need to be actively involved in practicing with beginners and young children until they reach an age where they can be more self-directed in their practicing. Students that don't practice routinely will be dropped from the studio.
Cancellations
Each lesson slot is a valuable reservation. I'm prepared and committed to teaching you at that time. It is your spot that you are holding. Please email me ASAP if you are ill or need to cancel. Makeups are not given for student cancellations unless a time becomes available during regular teaching hours due to another student’s cancellation. As a courtesy, I usually offer a few extra makeup slots in December and May. Send an email to request a makeup, and I’ll email you if a slot opens up. Makeup lessons will be given for any teacher cancellation at a time agreed upon by both of us. Refunds are not provided for student initiated cancellations.
Performance Opportunities
Studio Recitals are presented twice a year, usually early December and May. Students are expected to participate in these recitals.
Colorado State Music Teachers Association holds recitals and festivals.
There are many competitions in the Front Range area throughout the year.
Lesson Commitment
Students are expected to commit to the full year of study, September through May. If you need to discontinue lessons for any reason, please give 30 days notice.
Tuition Policies
Please pay for the entire month’s lessons by the first lesson of the month. It is not acceptable to make payment at or after each lesson. Prepaying for the entire month holds you accountable for reserving your spot in the studio. Please honor that I prepare for each lesson. I have self employment expenses to pay. I have a waitlist of other potential customers interested in your spot. Prepaying for the month financially backs your commitment to learning music on a regular schedule in this studio.
Payments may be made by cash, check, Zelle, Venmo, or your bank's pay bills app.
